What to know

The newest Timex Marlin chronograph looks further into watchmaking history than the collection’s usual 1960s influences. Inspired by multi-scale timing instruments from the 1930s and 1940s, its dial combines a coloured central spiral tachymeter with a peripheral telemeter and two chronograph registers.

The cream-dial configuration is especially expressive, with blue and red hands, carefully differentiated timing scales and a stainless steel bracelet. A 40mm brushed steel case, angled lugs, rounded pushers and domed acrylic crystal complete the vintage-inspired character. The telemeter can estimate the distance of an event from the delay between seeing and hearing it; the tachymeter offers speed calculations over a known distance.

Unlike the mechanical chronographs elsewhere in this selection, the Marlin Neo Classic uses a quartz movement. That distinction is part of its appeal: Timex delivers elaborate historical dial design in a more affordable, low-maintenance package. It debuted in September 2026, with launch prices of $279 on leather and $319 on steel.
