What to know
The Aquanaut Travel Time reference 5164G-001 combines Patek Philippe’s sporty-chic design language with one of the manufacture’s most practical travel complications. Its white-gold case and opaline blue-gray dial create a restrained, almost monochrome look, while the familiar embossed Aquanaut pattern lends visual depth without cluttering a highly functional display.
Travel Time operates through two central hour hands: the solid, luminescent hand tracks local time, while a skeletonized counterpart records home time. When a journey begins, the two separate; at home, they can overlap. Two pushers neatly integrated into the case flank at nine o’clock let the wearer move the local hour independently in one-hour steps, an intuitive answer to changing time zones.
Small day-and-night apertures labelled local and home clarify whether it is morning or evening in either location. At six, a pointer-date subdial follows local time rather than home time, avoiding one of the subtler compromises in less carefully considered dual-time watches. The arrangement transforms an already distinctive dial into a genuinely useful instrument.
The case measures 40.8mm from ten to four o’clock and 10.2mm in thickness, with a rounded octagonal bezel that alternates polished and satin finishes. An integrated blue-gray composite strap with a white-gold fold-over clasp continues the restrained palette. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.
Through the sapphire caseback, Patek Philippe’s automatic calibre 26-330 S C FUS is visible. The 4Hz movement uses a 21-karat gold winding rotor and delivers approximately 35 to 45 hours of reserve. In an age of increasingly complicated travel watches, this Aquanaut makes a strong argument for practical clarity: two times, two day-night indicators and a date that travels with the wearer.
