What to know

Longines has introduced a blue version of the Spirit Pilot Flyback, moving away from the warmer gilt accents of the original black-dial version. Its deep blue dial matches the ceramic bezel, while white markings and silver-edged hands produce a cooler and distinctly more modern appearance.

The steel case measures 39.5mm across and 13.4mm thick, with a fully luminous ceramic bezel, 100-metre water resistance and the choice of a steel bracelet or textured blue rubber strap. The compact proportions are notable for a traditional column-wheel flyback chronograph, a complication that often demands a relatively substantial case.

Power comes from Longines’ exclusive manually wound Calibre L792.4, with COSC chronometer certification, a column wheel and a 68-hour reserve. The flyback mechanism allows a running chronograph to reset and restart with one push. The new colourway is a convincing exercise in refinement: the underlying watch is unchanged, but the visual result feels notably different.
