What to know

Glashütte Original and porcelain specialist Meissen have reunited to capture the fleeting beauty of the Jugatsu-zakura cherry blossom, a Japanese variety that flowers in the colder months. The Senator Meissen Cherry Blossom places individually painted white and pink flowers across a bright porcelain dial.

The watch pairs the traditional hand-decorated material with a warm red-gold case that measures 40mm across and 10.2mm thick. Its understated hands leave the dial itself as the central attraction, making the composition closer to a miniature painting than a conventional technical watch face.

Behind the sapphire caseback sits a Glashütte Original automatic movement with a silicon balance spring and an approximately 100-hour reserve. Traditional movement decoration and a 21-karat gold oscillating mass continue the artisanal theme.

Announced in early October 2026, this collaboration explores a compelling meeting of German watchmaking and European porcelain-making traditions. The defining value is not novelty of complication but the painstaking manual work of the dial, whose individual brushstrokes give each watch a character that machine printing cannot replicate.
